Vivid News: Carol's Daughter Launches Monoi

New spokesmodels Solange, Cassie,  and Selita Ebanks attended the Carol’s Daughter Spokesbeauty & Monoi Repairing Collection launch at Sephora in New York City--and the ladies looked nothing short of fab while doing so.

Selita looked cute in an ethnic print dress and nude Christian Louboutin Lady Dafs.

Cassie looked hot in a deep-v, skin-tone mini dress, but hmmm---I'm confused by the ankle strap on those pumps. I think she could have worn a sexier shoe.

Former spokesmodel, Mary J. Blige kept it simple in a black and white python print blouse and white skinny jeans. She accessorized the look with an Hermes belt and cognac heels.

Solange stunted in a canary yellow suit and grey t-strap sandals. I love that she kept her accessories to a minimum and allowed the suit to be the focal point. Her glowing skin and blown out 'fro were the perfect addition to the look.

If you ask me, Solo stole the show!  What do you think of their looks? Who wowed you?

Vivid Look of the Day: Janet Jackson

Janet Jackson wore this satin hunter green and eggplant ensemble to the amfAR’s 2011 Cinema Against AIDS Gala. I'm loving her unique take on color-blocking. The look was unexpected and nothing short of fabulous. Everything from her hair to the teal belt and nails is perfection.

What do you think of Ms. Jackson's look?

June Ambrose Styles for Paper Magazine

Fashion maven, June Ambrose styled models after her own likeness for Paper Magazine's "Style Like Me" spread. The models were draped in designers like Gucci, Fendi, Matthew Williamson and Diane von Furstenberg to showcase some of June's signature looks including color-blocking and turbans from June's own line.

Ah-MAY-zing: Beyonce in Gareth Pugh

In anticipation of Beyonce's new video, "Girls (Who Run the World)," I've finally got the deets on the amazing shoes she's wearing. The gold, geometric, mirror heels are called the Starship Enterprise by Gareth Pugh.

Beyonce's gold dress is also by the designer. She's been a fan of Pugh's work for quite some time. Here is what she said of him:
"I love Gareth Pugh, he’s amazing. His work is so different. The dramatic shoulder pads make your waist look teeny tiny and it’s very structured and graphic and modern. I think the contrast of his garments and my personality is really cool. And I get to dress up and be whatever I want."

I'm loving the futuristic hotness. What do you think of Beyonce's video look?

Celebrity Oops! of the Day: Tracee Ellis Ross

Joan Carol Clayton Tracee Ellis Ross showed up at the Saks Fifth Avenue for the “Beneath A Starlet Sky” book signing wearing this ensemble. Unfortunately, her laid back steez didn't translate well in her outfit choice. The tuxedo jacket, the mixed patterns and the creepers were not a good look. I can't even get on board with the hair and make up. The bag is nice though...

What do you think of Tracee's look?

Italian Vogue’s May 2011 Tribute to Black Beauties

Claire Sulmers from my favorite fashion blog, The Fashion Bomb Daily wrote an article for Vogue Italia for a tribute to black beauties. Here's an excerpt:
"A tribute is due to the woman whose skin tone ranges from alabaster to mahogany to smooth onyx, who can flawlessly carry any makeup look—from gold dusted lids to fuchsia blush to ripe purple and pink glosses. These pages pay homage to the versatile woman whose hair can oscillate from a tightly coiled and coifed Afro, to sleek layers, to a slicked back pixie cut in a matter of minutes. To the divine woman whose enviably full lips, strong, white teeth, and delightful smile have been known to electrify the hearts of many."

“Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty” 2011 Costume Institute Gala At The Metropolitan Museum Of Art

Here are some the designs that were displayed at the Costume Institute Gala.

Sheer genius! He will truly be missed.

“Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty” 2011 Costume Institute Gala At The Metropolitan Museum Of Art

Celebs from all over the globe gathered at the Costume Institute Gala At The Metropolitan Museum Of Art to honor the late Alexander McQueen. The gala was full of those who's lights shined brightly, those who played it safe and some who completely missed the mark. Let's take a look, shall we?

Eva Mendes sizzled on the red carpet in this pleated cobalt blue number, cinched at the waist with a gold belt. Loves it!

Iman looks all of 35 in this matte sequined jumpsuit. Though the color almost matches her skin tone exactly, she doesn't look washed out. HOT!

Power couple, Jay-Z and Beyonce looked like the stars they are. Jay looks nice in his white jacket and trousers and Bey is giving them body in this brocade fishtail dress. Two thumbs up!

Rihanna looks great in this black sequined lace dress with a slight train, but I wish she would have done a pop of color down below. A teal shoe would have brought this look all the way to life.

Janelle Monea was her usual self in this menswear inspired look. She looks nice, but I'm a bit tired of the black and white ho-hum. I'd love to see her in some color for a change.

Cute couple Christine Teigen and John Legend looked nice on the red carpet.  Christine brought the drama in her lace/ruffled/ feathered number.

American Idol judge, J Lo looked breathtakingly beautiful in this red halter dress with a rosette bolero. A sleek bun completes the look. Fantastico!

Actress Zoe Saldana fell flat in this boring yellow number. The color is pretty, but a little more drama is expected for such an event.

American Next Top Model judge, Andre Leon Tally looked grape-ful in this violet tent cape, and we'd expect nothing less of him.

Tennis champ, Serena Williams pulled out this feathered gown and hat for the occasion, but we're staring at her for all the wrong reasons...

Basketball couple, Carmelo and LaLa Anthony came through. Caremlo looks hot in his tuxedo, but LaLa is giving me ostrich fever in this feathered frock. Not feeling it.

Of course, Mr. West couldn't be left out. The rapper looked dapper in his tux. Nice and simple.

And last, but not least super model and Alexander McQueen muse came through in this white McQueen gown. While I love that she wore a dress by the designer to an event honoring him, I cannot co-sign this look. She looks a like Big Bird's auntie and the hair style isn't helping the cause.
